Leo Full Moon: Disruption & Revelation

Updated: Feb 14

The Full Moon on February 12, 2025, at 24 Leo ignites further change in an abrupt and disruptive manner, and invites us to respond with authenticity and compassion.

Unexpected circumstances, shocking announcements, societal awakenings and increasing conflict within the collective are signature themes of the year. The challenge is to not resist the revelations that interject themselves into our lives, but to respond by focusing on and nurturing what lights us up. Listening to our heart and to what we love will help us to successfully navigate the changing landscape. The Full Moon reminds us that we are to move from love and to let this be the fuel for a vision that can unleash creative potential.

Full Moons are the peak moment of each lunar cycle when something in our life reaches a culmination point. The days leading up to the Full Moon bring increased momentum, activity and mounting pressure. At the Full Moon, emotions and tides run high. Something comes to a head, experienced as a crisis or breakthrough, and a desired resolution can be achieved. During the two weeks following the Full Moon, we are completing the month's journey and distilling the wisdom of the recent lunar cycle, so we are ready for the invitation that is presented with the next New Moon.

The houses where 24 Leo and Aquarius reside in our natal chart reveals the area of life where we can expect disruption, revelation and change. We navigate this change by validating what we want to create and what lights us up.

The Mind in Service to the Heart’s Desire

The Leo / Aquarius Polarity

The Moon in Leo seeks joy. We seek play, creativity and fresh inspiration. The optimal response to change and uncertainty is to drop into our heart. The Sun rules Leo, and Leo rules the Heart. So, just as the Sun is the center of the solar system in which all the other planets discover their motion and cycles, our heart lies at the center of all the activities, relationships, thoughts and life whirling about us.

Just as the Sun radiates light, we shine our light through the love, the creativity and the joy that springs forth from our heart. In this process, we burn away fear and the darkness that encroaches on the light. The Leo Moon inspires courage and the perseverance needed to work through the challenges that present themselves. We are supported in discovering where we are ready to shine and be seen.

Opposing the Moon, The Sun and Mercury are conjoined in Aquarius. There is an emphasis on the intellectual quest of shaping a vision, developing ideas, and collaborating with others towards fulfilling a shared purpose. We look to grasp the big picture and to break away from old and tired ways of perceiving possibilities and probabilities. Technological innovation is fueled as are grass roots community movements – both of which run on an inspired vision of introducing something new to society.

Resolution of Leo/Aquarian Polarity. The Leo Full Moon inspires us to find the counterbalance to tendencies we have to overthink, hyper-rationalize or get lost in our head (the shadow side of Aquarius). We look to infuse Aquarian values of detachment and objectivity with the warmth of our heart. The best inspiration, idea or action is one that is rooted in love.

It is easy to get caught up and lost in what is happening in the collective, or in the needs and conversations of the surrounding community. We want to be connected to and to serve something larger than ourselves (Aquarian impulse), and yet we are to first align with our personal spark of life and the unique gift we wish to offer (Leo impulse). Rather than focusing on what we cannot control or affect, the Leo Moon brings our attention to what we can affect. The Leo Moon reminds us that we are to generously nurture what brings us joy, a sense of play, and a warm heart.

Beyond Convention and The Familiar

Fixed T Square -- Uranus square the Full Moon and Mercury

Intensity, shocks, disruptions and fast-acting developments will continue for some time. With Uranus, the Great Disrupter, playing a prominent role, we can suddenly be catapulted into territory outside our comfort zone. Habit and convention invariably trap or repress vitality and creativity which is then freed up by the unexpected surprise that Uranus offers.

Highly creative energies are being released as the once stable foundation cracks apart (Uranus in Taurus, 2018 – 2025).  Disruptions feel deeply personal, affecting our sense of safety (Uranus square the Moon). Unexpected developments challenge our confidence (Uranus square the Sun). Plans for the future may be blindsided by some news that seems to come out of nowhere (Uranus square Mercury). Insights and revelations that happen at this time serve to have us fathom a fuller story. New outcomes and potentials become available if we can refrain from feeding resistance or fear of disruption.

The Missing Fixed Sign of the T Square:  Scorpio. The resolution to the tension of the T-square is found within the symbolism of Scorpio, the sign of fixed water. Scorpio represents the dark waters within us. Lurking just beneath the surface of our conscious mind lies an intensity, comprised of our deepest held feelings and fears. Fixedness leads to frozenness. Holding onto feelings, to outworn dreams, to the past, reveals where we are no longer fluid, where we are longer expanding or growing.

In times marked by unprecedented change, what is hidden surfaces and deeply held feelings can no longer be kept at bay. As uncomfortable as this may be, unprecedented change offers us the opportunity to have these feelings rise and wash through us, cleansing and ultimately healing us. Hidden truths are revealed and we discover something new to trust. Tending to what arises within has the potential to carry us to a newfound peace that is aligned with the deeper loving part of ourselves that is more readily accessible.

Death of a Dream, and Promise of Rebirth

Neptune conjunct North Node and the Pisces Season

There is a surge of idealism, of dreams and of deception. Old dreams are washing away, and the decks are being cleared for a new dream to emerge when Neptune leaves Pisces and enters Aries later this spring. Neptune’s energies are especially amplified conjoined the North Node (our collective future) at the final degrees of its own sign, Pisces. There is a fatedness, a karmic reaping and clearing that we are undergoing individually and as a collective.

A spiritual awakening can loosen our identification with our ego and individual self and open us to seeing the world through the lens of an eternal presence that is infused in all life. Revelations like this can inspire compassion and unconditional love as it dispels illusions we hold around death and beliefs of separateness. Similarly, we can experience a premature transcendence that carries us away from integration and full connection. Or we can find ourselves in the grip of self-deception, addiction or escapist tendencies. They key is to face and integrate the feelings and truths that are surfacing.

We are entering the Pisces Season which officially begins February 18 when the Sun enters Pisces. This Pisces season holds great power to catalyze seismic shifts. Memes currently circulating on social media announcing a rare lineup of planets are referring to the Pisces season which will peak on the Pisces New Moon February 28 when there will be five planets and the North Node in Pisces.

So many planets at the final degrees of zodiac wheel is a gathering of fantastic energy at the end of the old world. The planets are coming together to ceremoniously bring an end to an era. The last degree of Pisces is often marked by suffering and grief.  We may feel waves of loss and feeling in response to unfolding circumstances in the collective or in our lives. As we move through March and into April, we will stand with these planets at the end of time as we together await a glimpse of the new dawn, the new idea, the new dream that is ready to crown.

The last sign of the zodiac, Pisces represents the end of a life cycle. This is where what has been built dissolves back into the primordial ocean of becoming. Ways we have operated and understood our life are now returning this formless watery womb, destined to become fertilizer for the seeds of the future that will begin taking root later this year. As multiple planets move through Pisces, the sign of the poet, the mystic, the drunk, we all become dreamers. It is the realm of where all paths converge and become one, and where miracles and great mystery exist side by side.

Piscean waters are sweeping through our lives and washing away what has run its course.  We continue to say goodbye to ways of living that we have been longing to release, and ways of living we never questioned or never dreamed we would outlive.

There is increased potential for the waters of the world to rise and for cyclones or storms to sweep across the landscape to carry away what we once imagined was stable and enduring. In just the last six months, a thousand year storm swept through North Carolina and Southeast U.S., the unprecedented winds and flooding in Ireland, the hurricane that devastated S. Korea, and the devastating flash floods in coastal Spain. As the North Node joins Neptune at the final degrees of Pisces, then as Venus and mercury and Saturn come to this degree over the coming weeks, the potential for powerful storms increases as they come to carry away what is not to continue into the new era.

There is no right next step.

There is only going towards

the thing that feels most towards

in each moment & that’s exactly

how you get to that place

beyond your wildest dreams

that only you can reach.

Emotional Growth and Maturity

(Mars Retrograde (December 6 – February 25 / 6 Leo to 17 Cancer)

Mars, the planet of action, is a bit waterlogged since it backed into Cancer in early January. Over the last weeks, we may have found it challenging to get things done or find our stride. The Leo Full Moon brings catalyzing energetics to get us unstuck and moving forward again.

Mars square Chiron compels us to heal unresolved feelings and fears that color and influence our desires and motivations. Childhood memories and feelings associated with our upbringing are evoked. We may encounter feelings that we have not felt for years and forgot they were there. By facing the beliefs or wounds that left us feeling insecure, our self assuredness can be restored.

Mars will be at 17 Cancer until mid-March. Slowing to a near standstill, Mars is now synthesizing what has been learned during the retrograde. If we have planets between 16 and 20 degrees of a cardinal signs (Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, Libra), there is an imperative that we resolve a feeling, need or early memory so that we come to a new understanding concerning its subject matter.

Mars trine Saturn helps us to move beyond the quagmire of recent weeks. We find it easier to address the next steps of a plan with discipline and authority. We may find we are operating from a new level of emotional maturity that was forged through the time of the Mars retrograde. Saturn, operating as our inner parent or elder, guides us to own what needs to be owned, and to forgive what needs forgiving. There are new understandings about ourselves and our internal world that make it easier to live with ourselves.

Mars is out of bounds until April 7. Moving outside the parameters of the ecliptic, Mar's has gone renegade. We may feel motivated to push ourself to go beyond limiting patterns. To counter the impatience that may emerge, we are to pace ourselves and channel forceful energy into perseverance, patience and tenacity.

Venus in Aries sextile Pluto and Jupiter

Venus is in her shadow period before her Retrograde (March 1 – April 13).  Entering Aries on February 4, new life quickened within us. While we cannot yet name what it is, we have begun to align with the new potential that will be emerging. Venus is not at home in Aries, as she is less apt to compromise, be diplomatic and or bend to the needs of relationship. We are more focused on standing up for the fire building within us. There is a journey ahead to own our passion, our bravery, our call to adventure, and have this honored in relationship with those closest to us. For now, we are simply to notice this newfound spark within and look for ways to affirm, feed  and enjoy it.

In Conclusion

“I can’t handle any more shocks or surprises. I am ready for my life to settle down.  Please tell me when this will happen?” Over and over I have heard clients and people in my life have said this. I resonate with this desire and yet the astrology for the next couple years indicates that feeding our longing for stability may work against us as we are being called to change and adapt. To have stability and routine be our guiding vision, may result in creating increased agitation and upset as we react to a life that is not going the way we want it to go. We are living in a time of transformative growth that ushers in new paradigms for living. Something new is wanting to break through into our consciousness and into the collective. If we can view problems as opportunities and change as something desired, we may awaken to a more expanded, enlightened way of seeing and living.

I recognize that many of us are experiencing adrenal fatigue and overact nervous systems that continue to be stimulated and overstimulated by what is happening the collective field. The need to lower cortisol and calm the flight/fight response is real. The Full Moon addresses this by inviting us to be aware of ways we get caught up the news, plans, or commitments in a way that has us overextend and disconnect from our joy. We are no longer embodied, but become something outside ourselves. Leo is the sign of the child and it is essential now to keep the child within us alive.  We do this by seeing life as a play and a day as something to create. We stay centered in our heart and look to feed the joy, the hope, the love. For this is what makes the world go ‘round and will moment by moment light the way forward.,
