Libra Full Moon: Mirrored

Updated: Apr 13

If I am not for myself,

who will be for me?

If I am not for others,

what am I?

And if not now, when?

Rabbi Hillel

The Full Moon on April 12, 2025, at 24 Libra illuminates what is out of balance and needs adjusting in our relationships.

We are given an honest look at ourselves in the mirror of what the people and the things we value are showing us. Self-confidence can be undermined by an old hurt or fear that surfaces (Chiron conjunct the Sun) stirring feelings of impatience and insecurity (Mars square the Full Moon). Issues around what is fair or just are accentuated. It may be timely to have an open conversation with someone in our lives so that the relationship can move forward in a good way. We are encouraged to reach for a level of detachment that will help us arrive at a fresh perspective. Employing courage and compassion to acknowledge a truth about ourselves will help foster the inner shift that can bring us into balance.

The Libra Full Moon illuminates the inherent polarity and potential harmonizing energies of the masculine (Aries) and the feminine (Libra) within ourselves. In addition, both Mars and Venus play a prominent role at the Full Moon. Mars, ruler of Aries, is assertive, self-directed, action-oriented and ready for battle. Venus, ruler of Libra is relational, receptive, creative and ready for love. There is opportunity to further heal and balance the feminine and masculine within ourselves which will translate into more satisfying relationships with others.

Full Moons occur at the peak of each lunar cycle when something in our life reaches a culmination point. They have the potential to bring clarity to situations that have been building over the last weeks, or even months. The days leading up to the Full Moon bring increased momentum, activity and mounting pressure. At the Full Moon, emotions and tides run high. Something comes to a head, experienced as a crisis or breakthrough, and a desired resolution can be achieved. During the two weeks following the Full Moon, we are completing the month's journey and distilling the wisdom of the recent lunar cycle, so we are ready for the invitation that is presented with the next New Moon.

The houses where 24 Libra and Aries reside in our natal chart provide us an indication of the area of life where there is a breakthrough or new awareness around what is unbalanced or unfair that needs to be addressed. We can expect to make some adjustment in order to resolve the disharmony we are perceiving.

not when we are given

what we ask,

Restoring Balance

Sun in Aries/Moon in Libra

We seek resolution of the dynamic polarity and tension between the Libra and Aries that operate within ourselves. The impulse to have uncompromising authenticity in how we express ourselves (Sun in Aries) needs to blend and complement the impulse to have harmony and closeness in our relationships (Moon in Libra). The Sun in Aries is focused on ‘what I need and what I need to achieve.’ The Libran Moon is more focused on relationships and how to partner and move in sync with others. Rather than the desire of one to be favored over the other, we are striving to move beyond the polarity of one or the other and find a way for the two to dance together in how to approach life.

The Libra Moon stimulates the value for fairness, justice and peace with those around us and illuminates an imbalance that needs addressing. We may need to initiate conversations with people in our lives, to hear the other's side and express what is on our mind. We can take in another’s perspective without losing our own. A deeper understanding of our relationships can help us reassess what is needing to happen. The reassessment can extend to themes of money, possessions, and the things we own.

With the Moon in Libra, we want to approach issues with a measure of detachment and an eye for creative solutions. There will likely be feelings of discomfort as we face what needs addressing, but if we can be present to the disquiet and dis-ease we are feeling, new ideas and insights will breakthrough into our awareness (The Moon at the apex of a Yod with Uranus, the North Node, Saturn, Venus). We have it within us to make the leap to see what needs to be seen and address what is being mirrored to us (Jupiter trine the Moon).

We are in Aries season with Chiron, Neptune and the Sun in Aries

The annual conjunction between the Sun and Chiron softens and brings our attention to where we are struggling and feeling insecure. With both in Aries, there is an opportunity to heal a lack of confidence and uncertainty which prevents us from stepping into leadership. Hanging out with what hurts may not be fun, but it’s a pivotal part of recovery. Having compassion for and loving the messy parts of ourselves will result in greater self-acceptance and confidence.

Neptune at 0 Aries. Two weeks ago, Neptune entered Aries, initiating a new 165-year Neptune cycle. On a subconscious level, we are adjusting to this massive collective energy shift. We may be experiencing a disruption of our rhythms and sleep cycles. There might be enhanced confusion or disorientation. Neptune represents our dreams and ideals. While it is in Aries, we are to stand up for what we believe in, and fight for our ideals and what matters most to us. The Full Moon supports us to undertake the healing, the conversations, that will lead to making the adjustments we need to make so that we can open into a fuller expression of ourselves.

Emotional Maturation

Mars, ruler of Aries is prominently placed at the Full Moon

Mars in Cancer is less assertive and more emotional, less the daredevil and more focused on issues related to the home. We are more connected to our feelings and basic needs due to Mars' recent Retrograde cycle and his extended stay in Cancer (January - April 18). During these months, attention has gone to having greater clarity and creating plans for how to better care for ourselves, our families and in making our home environment work better for us. We have had a heightened sense of what we need to feel nurtured and to arrange our life so that this can happen. Mars is highly stimulated at the Libra Full Moon due to being in aspect - meaning in relationship - with just about every planet in the sky. What we have been discovering and putting into place to feel nurtured may feel challenged, but we are also being supported to rise to that challenge.

Mars in a T-square to Sun, Chiron and Moon. We may feel bogged down in our feelings and may be taking things more personally. With Mars in Cancer under stress by the T-square, we are more reactive or easily triggered by perceived threats to our safety, home or family. We may even feel that our home or homeland is under attack. Before reacting, take a breath. Better yet, take a walk around the block or soak in a bathtub until we find a way respond from love and not fear.

Mars trine Saturn, Venus, Mercury and the North Node in Pisces. All these planets are in water signs indicating that we will meet the opportunity of the Full Moon best if we remain connected to our emotional body and let our feelings guide us. We are still in the process of completing and closing out one or more aspects of our life.

Mars’ interaction with this process gives us an added boost to do what needs to be done so that we can get on with it. Part of restoring balance in our lives will include identifying and releasing what we are not to carry forward with us. It can be a keepsake from childhood, clothes or something larger like a job, a person, or a belief. We are being motivated to take the bull by the horns and do what needs to be done to lighten our load and leave the past in the past.

Mars comes to the 3rd opposition with Pluto on April 26, but we will feel its influence during the days preceding and following. This is a highly charged dynamic that can be powerfully transformative or tremendously explosive. The friction between these two plants generates great willpower and the impulse to assert, with the potential to use brute force. The dynamic can go become one of alchemical transmutation that propels our soul's evolution, or it can become an agent for destruction and abuse. We are being given the tools now while Mars is in Cancer and aspecting the Pisces planets to come into alignment with our feeling nature and to let it guide us to the right actions and conversations and connections that need to be made so that we experience the Mars/Pluto opposition as generative and not disruptive.

Compassion and Forgiveness

Full Moon Ruler: Venus

sextile Uranus and conjunct Ceres, Saturn, North Node, Mercury

Venus is stationing, ready to go direct. She is re-emerging from her 40-day Retrograde journey. Like Mercury who finished its Retrograde a week ago, she began her journey in Aries and moved backward into Pisces. At the start of her Retrograde journey, she confident and fired up, ready to assert herself, but then she took a step back from the world and began feeling more vulnerable and sensitive especially around her relationships. For us, we have needed to open to a spiritual perspective and to see what needs addressing in our relationships from a place of compassion and forgiveness. This time has been needed to let go of old patterns and belongings so that we can move forward with confidence. As Venus turns direct, we have renewed clarity around what we value and how those values are expressed in the relationships and belongings we have chosen to surround ourselves with.

Venus in Pisces stirs the poetic and mystical side of our nature. We can find pleasure in being creativity or making art. It also stirs our empathy, our spiritual yearnings and our compassion for all living beings. We may find satisfaction spending time in nature or participating in ritual or meditation. We are looking to nurture our soul and our relationship with what is not seen and cannot be quantified. We have been looking for the intimate connection and ecstatic engagement with ourselves and others who will join us in this pursuit.

Venus conjunct Saturn through the rest of April brings the Piscean Venus back down to earth. Saturn restrains, creates boundaries and looks for results. It introduces a conservative and rational approach at the end of Venus’ retrograde journey, requiring us to make some choices while remaining connected to a spiritual and creative mindset. We are ready to lighten our load. This can happen through selling possessions, downgrading expectations, or re-envisioning financial contracts or goals. There is a course correction being called for that will have us make some cutbacks so that our creative imagination can bloom, our connection with nature is strengthened, and there is greater potential for finding balance with our inner emotional life.

Venus also conjunct Mercury and the North Node. So many planets are conjoined at the final degrees of the zodiac wheel. We might feel overwhelmed and too sensitive to move forward, but Saturn’s presence provides the structure that supports and guides us to do what needs to be one. And we can be reassured that we are attuned to the future and can take the practical steps to let go of what is ready to be released (Venus conjunct the North Node) so we clear a way to the future we are intuiting but has yet to be defined. Then, come April 30 when Venus re-enters Aries, we are better positioned to step into sovereignty and autonomy of our life.

Venus exactly sextile Uranus. We are infused with the inspiration to see the larger picture, to open to new horizons and to have the insight needed to say goodbye to what no longer serve us. We may even meet someone in a chance encounter who inspires us to release what needs releasing.

We Have What we Need

Arcturus and Spica conjunct the Moon

The Libran Moon illuminates two of the brightest in the night sky: Arcturus and Spica.

Arcturus, the alpha star in Boötes, is the oldest named star in the sky. He was first identified as the Hunter Gatherer and later became known as the Herder or Ploughman. He embodies the transition of one way of living to another. His presence at this time when we are on the verge of entering a new paradigm as a collective reassures us that we too can adapt and make the changes we will be called to make. Arcturus is also called the Pathfinder, and like him we can find the path that leads to something better for ourselves and for humanity.

Spica, the alphas star in Virgo, represents that chaff of wheat held in the hand of the goddess as her gift to humanity. The gifts of the goddess for our ancestors came with the harvest.  In our time, we can say that she is holding a silicon chip or some new method of technology. There is some new technology that we are to embrace as a gift from the divine, but first we need to recognize what we need to release from our hands so that we can grasp what is be given.
